Blockchain-Enabled IoT Smart Home: Smart home with blockchain control

Overview

A smart home where every command and state change is a signed transaction. A Raspberry Pi reads temperature, humidity, gas and motion, drives relays for lights, a fan and a door, and syncs state with a Solidity contract that keeps an owner, admins and a user registry. A Node-RED dashboard talks to the same contract.

The challenge

Smart homes usually depend on one central server. The goal was a system where only registered users can change device state, and every change is recorded on-chain.

Key capabilities

  • Solidity contract with owner, user registry, device state and commands
  • Python controller that signs transactions with web3.py
  • DHT22, MQ-2 and PIR sensing with five relay outputs
  • Multi-rate main loop for sensing, control and chain sync
  • Node-RED dashboard and deployment scripts

Outcomes

  • Tamper-evident history of every command and state change
  • Access limited to registered users by the contract itself
  • Full stack from GPIO to dashboard in one codebase
